Bad Habits Tend to Accumulate explores the conceptual opposition between the world of human operators and digital AI assistants, portrayed as submissive employees within a corporate hierarchy. For this project, I developed the character design and animation of the “digital workforce,” using a predominantly blue color palette as a visual metaphor for technology, IT culture, and the digital workplace.

Character Design

The characters were created in Character Creator and animated in iClone. Their clothing and accessories were designed using Marvelous Designer and Cinema 4D. Corporate office aesthetics and formal company group portraits served as key visual references for the characters. An additional conceptual layer is introduced through the AI-generated shadows they cast, within which images of nightmares and restless, disembodied souls can be discerned.

Animation

To reinforce the characters’ subordinate role, I developed poses that subtly suggest submission and compliance. Their body movements combine custom-processed Mixamo animations with manual keyframe animation and modeling. Several close-up hand performances were captured using a Leap Motion tracker integrated with iClone, allowing for more expressive and nuanced gestures.
